Rescue from the Spider's Web

Ame dazily looked on as the Sandslash took out the Ariados, her head swaying around as she clung onto her sense of self and her surroundings. Eventually she began to ground herself, slowly coming back to just in time to hear her savior ask if she were OK. She looked right at her, her eyes still a bit dazed, then smiled and gave a thumbs up. "It's gonna take a lot more than that to take out a ninja like me."

She stood up onto her talons and brushed herself off, trying and failing not to wince at the pain from being knocked headfirst into a tree. Still, she must be pretty alright with how she's acting. Or she's way too spunky for her own good. Probably both.

Once she finished brushing off first and bits off wood off of her feathers, she turns to the Sandslash once again and bowed her head, then paused. ... She forgot the proper greeting again. Well, time to wing it! "I am Ame Kitaru, a samurai of the Kitaru clan. Pleased to be at your service." Wait... That was it! She should pat herself on the back later for stumbling onto the right greeting. Go her!

Rescue from the Spider's Web

Seeing the Murkrow still have the energy to get up even after such a heavy hit made Eurali smile. While the attack might have not been the most successful, she still saw a lot of potential in the bird. Someone with this much drive was bound for greatness, and Eurali was excited to find out more about such an eccentric fighter.

Ninja? Samurai?, Eurali pondered. She had heard these words before, but only ever as word - she never made contact with a Pokemon who belonged to them. The proper introduction left quite the impression on Eurali that she took a slight step back in surprise. Oh my, what an important Pokemon! She thought. "I am Eurali Adamantine, rescuer of many. Pleased to meet some as brave as you! I've never met a ninja or samurai before, but I can see through you that they are something quite remarkable!"

Her first rescue on a new continent already had Eurali thrilled. She expected to learn more about different areas of the world by meeting with all of the Pokemon that gathered on this new continent - and her expectations were already met.

Remarkable? Her? Ame felt pride swell up inside her chest! She hadn't felt so confident in herself since she had been with Uta. Maybe she'd be alright on this continent, in that case. She'd be sure to become a better samurai! A better ninja! ... At least one of those. She wasn't so sure that you could truly be both, and she knew her family would not approve of anything that has to do with the ninja.

"It's nice to meet you, Eurali!" She put a wing behind her head, still feeling the prideful happiness at being complimented. Then she realized she forgot something. "Right! I thould thank you for saving me! So... Thanks!" Ame bowed once again, this time in gratitude instead of greeting.

"You said you were a... rescuer? What is that like if I might ask?" She stood back up as she asked. Eurali was so cool, and the Murkrow would love to be just as cool while helping others.

"Oh, it's nothing! Helping others out of sticky situations is just what I do," Eurali said. She never particularly cared for praised, though it did make her happy that she actually was of help. While it was always great when it turned out that others didn't actually need help or saving, it still validated her choice of career when they did.

"Rescue is a pretty... selfless task. You put yourself in danger to get others out of danger. That doesn't always go right," Eurali explained, thinking hard about her words. What was it really like to be a rescuer? She's been doing the job for so long, that she just didn't think about it anymore.

"But for all the dangers, there's also a great reward. You meet many different Pokemon on the job. Without it, I wouldn't have met a samurai today!" She said with a warm smile.

Ame stared at Eurali with wide eyes. She could tell just how much the Sandslash loved rescuing just from the way she talked about it. It was inspiring, in all honesty. She wished she could be so unabashedly enthused about her own work. She didn't even know what her own work was anymore. She knew she couldn't both be a ninja and a samurai. They were opposites, and that was that.

She let out a soft sigh to herself and looked down to the ground when Eurali mentioned meeting a samurai. She didn't even know if that's what she was anymore. "You seem like you understand exactly what you want." Ame paused for a moment before she looked back up at Eurali. "How did you figure it out?"

Eurali was taken aback by such a sincere question. Ame was clearly worried about her future, which Eurali could understand all too well. This wasn't the first time she was asked a question like that - her children had very much the same struggles, and will likely continue to struggle as they grow older. And Eurali had her struggles too.

"You know, I never really did," she chuckled. "Finding what you want is never an easy process, often you won't even know if you got what you want already."

The Sandslash pondered on her next words a bit. While she was used to giving advice at this point, it was never easy to find the right words. After all, Eurali was much more of a practical person.

"When I started doing rescue tasks, I didn't yet know that this would end up being who I am today. But after making many new experiences and hearing the stories of other Pokemon, I just ended up feeling comfortable in this position," she explained. Her voice was calm as she tried to properly bring out her thoughts. "If you're not sure about your direction, then putting yourself out into new situations can help break through. Since you're here on Celestia, I'd say you're on the best path," she said with a warm smile.

"New situations..." Ame looked down as she mulled over those words for a moment, making sure she took them in properly. She didn't want to lose them later when she may need them most. She turned her head back to Eurali and smiled at her. "Thank you a ton! I'll be sure to remember it!"

The Murkrow looked around, seeing forest in every direction. She suddenly realized that she didn't remember where she came in from, or maybe she never even paid attention to that detail as she flew around. This bird had a lot on her mind, OK? "Which way was town again...?" Ame muttered to herself, audible enough for her Sandslash rescuer to hear. Gosh, this wasn't ending up as simple a fly in the forest as she thought it would at all.

Seeing the Murkrow raise her head again made Eurali happy - maybe she wasn't so bad with words after all. Her advice wasn't always successful and she hoped that in her words she didn't say anything that would lead Ame down a wrong path. Then again, a path is a path and even the wrong path can eventually allow you branch out onto the right one again. Live is never as simple as just one road.

"I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for in due time! I'm wishing you the best on your journey," Eurali said.

Upon Ame's question Eurali looked around the forest. Obviously she knew where she came from, but in a place like this things were going to be as simple as remembering a path. Ame was still disoriented from her time in the spider's web, so Eurali took that as the next step in her rescue mission. "I came from that direction." She pointed towards some trees and bushes that looked like any other. "Just following the path back won't be enough, but we better keep moving before that Ariados gets up again."

Eurali picked up the branches and wood she had arrived with earlier. "Let's go."

Ame shook her feathers a bit, making sure whatever dust, leaves, webbing, or whatever else was out of them before nodding to Eurali. "Yeah, I don't want to mess with that guy again. They packed a heck of a punch! She paused for a moment before she started walking in the direction Eurali pointed to. "Er, is it still a punch when they use those bug limbs?"

The Murkrow looked over at her Sandslash rescuer as she picked up the wood. Ame hadn't even realized that she came with that. "What's all that for, Eurali?" Ame's first thought was using it for the special Substitute-jutsu that some ninja could use, but then she rememembered that Eurali hadn't even heard of ninja before this chance meeting. It surely couldn't be for that. Maybe it was for making training dummies. Even non-ninja used wood for that!

Ame's confusion regarding anatomical questions made Eurali chuckle. "A punch is a punch regardless of what you do it with. I don't think I've ever heard a definition of what a punch is even meant to be!" She laughed heartily.

When she was done picking up all her collected wood, she looked around for the way she came from. As she started to walk, she was happy to answer the curious Murkrow's question. "Oh, these sticks?" She rattled the sticks she held. "Some of them for fire, as it can get quite cold sometimes! These bigger and sturdier once I can use for construction or to make little figures out of. Anything to make a day more fun and or more pleasant!" Back when Eurali lived together with her kids, most of the things they had in their home were hand-made (or claw-made?) by Eurali herself. Even just doing some simple crafts here and there made her over-working brain happy.
